Ethiopia Update

What’s going on in Ethiopia?

Ethiopia continues in the grip of the aftermath of a devastating drought sparked by the worst El Nino in a generation.  It is estimated that over 240,000 people have been displaced. In addition, violence erupted in the Gondar region of northern Ethiopia in clashes of locals with security forces in July 2016.

To help out, Pathways contributed funds to build latrines and is currently raising funds for a new well and continued overall support of the community. The feasibility of a new well will depend on the raising of funds. Please consider making a donation today.

Because of the violence and continued drought related issues, building of Zemene’s school was delayed. As of today, July 18th, 2016, we are hopeful there will be enough water to be back on track and the unrest subsided to start and complete the school’s construction by the end of the year.

Once the school is completed Pathways will be implementing volunteer trips and continue to address other community needs.
